Who killed Felycya Davis and why?
The 33-year-old victim identified as a female. She was shot to death and her body was found Saturday afternoon at Meadowlark Park, just off Meadowbrook Drive in Augusta, Coroner Mark Bowen said.
A disturbing photo has circulated on social media showing the victim’s body at the park. No one deserves to die that way.
Born Antaun Harris, the transgender victim preferred to be called Felycya Harris. She was found deceased at the park and was pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m. Saturday.
After Monday’s autopsy, the coroner released this statement: “The autopsy was completed on Antaun Harris this morning. The case is a Homicide….Harris was shot at least one time. Still early in the investigation.”
Earlier Monday, the victim’s mother pleaded online for help in catching her child’s killer. Clara Taylor posted this: “Whomever did this to my child will pay. Remember that. To everyone that mentioned they wanted him dead…. Yes y’all will be making that trip to Richmond County. Point blank period. I’m sorry if I offended anyone. I’m ANGRY.”
The post was later deleted.
Here is the sheriff’s office press release from the weekend: “On October 3rd at 1:13 p.m., Richmond County deputies responded to the area of the 3600 block of Meadowlark Drive in reference to a deceased person. Deputies located a victim at the park. That individual has been declared deceased on the scene. The incident is being treated as a suspicious death at this time. … There is no other information available at this time.”
