Aiken Teen Charged with Reckless Homicide in Death of Female Passenger

-

An Aiken teen was charged Monday morning with reckless homicide in the Aug. 18 death of his female passenger.

Kamaria Frazier, 18, of Aiken, was the driver of a 2013 Kia that was traveling at a high rate of speed that afternoon when he ran off the side of Whiskey Road near Midway Circle and overturned several times, authorities said.

Passenger Morgan Douthitt, 18, of Aiken, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was unrestrained at the time of the wreck, Coroner Darryl Ables said. An obituary says that Morgan was a student at South Aiken High School.

Kamari was transported to  the hospital and has been arrested after his release. A mugshot shows him with blood-red eyes.

Reckless vehicular homicide is a felony in South Carolina. Convicted motorists face up to ten years in prison and/or $1,000 to $5,000 in fines. A reckless vehicular homicide conviction also leads to a five-year license revocation.
