FATALITY: Augusta Man in Wheel Chair is Struck by Car & Then Hit by RCSO Patrol Car

The Coroner’s Office is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred Saturday night on the 3700 block of Peach Orchard Road, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

Gregory Lynn Baker, 52, of the 3700 block of Byrd Road, was crossing Peach Orchard Road in his wheelchair when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.  Baker was thrown into the northbound lanes where he was struck by a Richmond County Sheriff’s patrol car.

Baker was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

An autopsy is scheduled at the GBI Lab.
