Man Found Dead on Augusta Porch is Identified

-

The name of the deceased man found on the back porch of 1638 Broad Street in Augusta has been identified.

Clarence Matthew Inglett, 63, was positively identified by fingerprints, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release. His daughter says her father was not homeless, adding that he has a home in McDuffie County and was visiting friends in Augusta when he died.

Inglett had been dead several days when he was found July 21 and unable to be identified due to the condition of the body, the coroner said. The autopsy results are still pending and will take a few weeks.

Meanwhile, the death remains under investigation. The city’s Code Enforcement was notified and the vacant house was condemned.
