Smiling Stalker Gets Busted by Columbia County While Following His Ex-Girlfriend

-

Columbia County authorities caught a local stalking suspect in the act on Tuesday as he followed his ex-girlfriend around Grovetown.

Jimmie Dale Taylor Jr., 27, won’t take no for an answer, according to a sheriff’s report. The victim said she filed a previous complaint after getting 41 text messages and 16 calls from Taylor. A deputy told Taylor to stop, and the suspect promised to stop contacting his ex-girlfriend. But he continued, and she responded by changing her phone number.

On Tuesday, the victim returned home from work and saw Taylor sitting outside her Grovetown residence in his car. She made a three-point turn and started driving toward the sheriff’s office while calling them.

Taylor followed her in his green Ford Explorer, but a deputy soon tracked him down to Columbia Road at County Camp Road and pulled him over.

“He stated he was trying to talk to (his ex-girlfriend) and he was going to give her a hug and apologize,” a sheriff’s report says.

Taylor was arrested for misdemeanor stalking under Georgia’s Family Violence Act. The victim said she was previously in a relationship with him and they lived together in Florida before she moved back to Columbia County. A report lists the suspect as a resident of Orange City, Fla.

He is currently free on bond.
