Aiken authorities are investigating a hit & run death from Thursday night that claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman.
Around 11:20 p.m. Thursday, witnesses notified police about the body laying in the median along Richland Avenue near Dyches Street.
“Preliminary investigation showed the victim had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene,”Coroner Darryl Ables said in a press release.
The victim was identified as 20-year-old Tamia Jackson. She was pronounced dead on scene and will be autopsied in Newberry, Ables said.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety is continuing with the investigation.
